FORGETTING

I forget
that you may not come back
one day,
next to me,
at night,
in our bed.
 
I forget
the promises I make to myself
every morning or every night,
every day,
every week,
every year.
 
I forget
that the amount of time I have left
on this Earth
is shorter
than the amount of time I have spent
on the Earth
 
I forget
that I am one
when I exist
as many
 
I forget
certain years of my life
while others
never leave me.
 
I forget
that creating
is the same as living
and the only way to be free
 
I forget
that screaming is healthy,
and one day, that scream
will be the host of my memory,
and that scream will be
the echo of my soul
flying high
flying high.
