I've just watched an excellent documentary about Soutine by Jean-Marie Drot. Fascinating at all levels. Here's a link about other documentaries that J.M Drot did.

Charles Bukowski's words resonate so much within me, such a beautiful poem. "Seeking Birth" acrylics on board, feathers and gold flakes. Artwork by Marianne - 2013 For this project I was sent Mallard's wings through the post and from there I was free to create any form of artwork triggered by the wings I received. I could photograph them, draw them, paint them, use them for a sculpture or installation.... the choice was mine. These wings took me through the journey of fecundity, rebirth and reincarnation. The blackbirds coming from a previous life are trying to re-enter an egg, a large duck egg in this case, just as past souls journey through time to reincarnate into different bodies, different gender or different race. The oval shape of the artwork brings a symbolic reference to the womb of creation. Please feel free to come to the Private view on Thursday 28th March, 6 -9pm, see address below. Many more artists will be taking part in the project. I hope to see you soon! |
