This painting is part of my series called 'Souls have no gender' based on old black and white photos of women artists, poets, writers, or those who have caught my imagination.


I allow the 'spirit' to manifest while working with the paint in an intuitive way, and in this case the face that manifested reminded me of a traditional woman from the French region of Brittany, hence the title ' La Bretonne'.
