Artists across the centuries have turned to animals as subjects, using their depiction to convey emotion, social standing, or symbolic intent. As an admirer of Goya, I am particularly struck by his haunting image of the dog sinking into the sand, or by the poignant scene of the small child holding a magpie with watchful cats at his side. I do not consider myself and animal painting, but they are part of my artistic exploration, as I believe that all animals have souls, and they can express intense emotions like human do.
Baloo - Oil on board. A5
Alna - Oil on canvas board. A5
If you would like a portrait of your favourite pet, I offer the following options:
A5 - Oil on canvas or board - £160 A4 - Oil on canvas or board - £300 A square format may at times be more appropriate depending on the subject, and will be priced accordingly (£150 - £300). Postage is not included. Although I do not frame the work professionally, to secure the painting during transport, I use a simple frame, as a presentation.
I am happy to paint most animals and birds as long as I relate to the subject. If I am not able to see your pet in real and take my own photos, I ask you to send me several shots, and I will chose the one that I feel comfortable to paint. The photos have to be in good resolution, not blurred, and I usually prefer a close up of the animals. Once we agree to the image a 50% non-refundable deposit is requested at the beginning, and the rest payable once completed. The painting takes between 2 - 3 weeks, depending on the subject.
If you are interested, please contact me sending me one photo of your pet, or animal you have in mind. I am happy to discuss with you the colours, format and other options before.
I am available for other types of commissions, such as landscapes, abstract or figurative work. Prices on demand. Contact me to let me know what you have in mind. I will only paint in my own style, so have a look first at my website to see what I have done before, and see if it would suit your project. Thank you.
