Artists across the centuries have turned to animals as subjects, using their depiction to convey emotion, social standing, or symbolic intent. As an admirer of Goya, I am particularly struck by his haunting image of the dog sinking into the sand, or by the poignant scene of the small child holding a magpie with watchful cats at his side. I do not consider myself and animal painting, but they are part of my artistic exploration, as I believe that all animals have souls, and they can express intense emotions like human do.
